022 – Lewis As Preacher

December 27, 2011

    Listen to as PODCAST: LM0022-Preacher Lewis

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
As a lay person Lewis preached only a handful of sermons but they were so well liked that those published in his lifetime are still in print today!
Few ministers remember, or want to remember, their first sermon. While C.S. Lewis wasn’t a preacher he did occasionally stand in the pulpit and his first effort was so well liked it was published in Famous English Sermons that came out less than a year after Lewis preached it.
Today the sermon is known as Learning in War-Time and can be found in The Weight of Glory collection of essays book. Interestingly enough Lewis’s final sermon, A Slip of the Tongue is found in the same collection. Also, the title of the book is one of his messages given at church.
