Listen to as PODCAST: LM045-How Narnia Started

Any true fan of the Narnia stories knows “it all began with a picture,” but do you know when this happen in C.S. Lewis’ life?

Lewis was blessed to get many of his ideas for stories by seeing pictures in his mind. At the age of sixteen, according to an essay he wrote in 1960, Lewis had a vision (quote) “of a Faun carrying an umbrella and parcels in a snowy wood.” Yet, it took more than 25 years for him to attempt to do anything with this idea.

However, when Lewis tried to write the story it didn’t come together at all. Finally, in 1948, almost ten years after his failed attempt he was back to writing it and within twelve months The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was ready for the publisher!

On Stories is the place to read the short essay Lewis wrote about most of this experience.
