The Silver Chair Announced as Next Narnia Movie

As I write this post it has been just less than twelve hours since news broke that The Silver Chair is planned as the next Narnia movie. What does this mean? How soon before the next movie will be released? 

As you might imagine, with news this fresh, the details are very lacking. What we do know is that the producer at the helm is Mark Gordon. Based on an interview I personally did with Douglas Gresham (stepson of C.S. Lewis and involved in the previous movies), he will be involved in the process. The only web-based news (outside of Facebook and Twitter) that had an official firsthand story was ComingSoon.net. They confirm Gresham’s involvement and stated that in addition to him and Gordon, “Vincent Sieber, the LA based Director of The C.S. Lewis Company” will be the producers of the movie.

That’s basically all we know at this point. No release date is set and from the just mentioned article it seems the script is either not written or still in development. Either way, as others have pointed out because of previous arrangements (legal issues) a new movie won’t hit the screens until very late 2017, or more realistically 2018.

The only other thing to elaborate on is about who Mark Gordon is in case you don’t already know. He is an Oscar-nominated producer. Some of his past movies are Speed, The Patriot and Saving Private Ryan.
